Gearing Up!

For once I'm gearing up and it has nothing to do with cars. Instead of worrying about the clutch and gearbox, now I'm worrying about Wednesday's test and Friday's interview. Hopefully I won't mix them both up in my head. Imagine that...

"What is your greatest strength?"

"Debit all assets and credit all liabilities!!!"

Yeah right, a surefire way to gain some quick attention, but I'm not buying this trick.

At this point maybe I'm worrying too much. Psychology can be my greatest enemy, so I'm trying to be positive about it. No not being positive about psychology being my greatest enemy! Positive about the interview. After all, it won't be a complete loss if I don't get the scholarship. My parents have hammered this fact into my head and I am thankful.

Note to self: No silly introduction that makes you look like a priest.
* Tengok picture interview punya kat bawah tu, macam dah naik gila.

First A Role Play, Now A Real Play.

Just when I thought I was done with interviews, another comes rolling my way. This one's no role play. It's the JPA scholarship interview, and I'm not the interviewer any more. Of course I would be happy to be the interviewer again, but if I do pop that question at the JPA guys, I'll lose my chance of getting a scholarship faster than you can say "you idiot".

With my role switched to interviewee, things are not going to be the same. I can't mess around as much, and I better NOT mess around since this is a real interview. I've got a feeling I won't be facing a single interviewer. My intuition tells me there will be at least 3 interroga- I mean interviewers ( and I thought I had no intuition... Haha! =.=).

I haven't been interviewed for some time. The last time was when I applied for a post in the English Language Society in CLHS. I did well in that one, but that was a year ago. Now my skills as an interviewee are beginning to rot. I know they're rotting because I can smell the stench, but I can't seem to even FIND the rotting skills.

The interview's next Friday. Hopefully by then I will be able to eliminate the rotting stuff in my head and replace it with some useful stuff. If you have any interview tips, feel free to write to me at ejlee91@gmail.com. Alternatively, you can just drop short tips at the cbox. Any form of help is welcome. Even silly and ridiculous ideas are welcome. Experience has thought me that ridiculous does not equal obsolete. Thanks, people.

Some Kind Of Interview

I did say i would write about Wednesday's role play. Yes I know the blog entry's late, but better late than never. I was the interviewer and Zhong Yang was the interviewee. He did a really good job and I must congratulate him for that. I was... well, still using my style of "more trash than truth". Luckily I didn't mess things up.

Our little drama was fitted with an introduction...

I'm not PREACHING! I'm GIVING THE INTRODUCTION!

...but yes I do look a bit odd there, as though a cannon ball just hit me in the stomach. That's the way I planned to get the audience's attention. I think it worked. By the way, it is your constitutional right to laugh at me in office wear. Go ahead. I won't stop you. In fact, I'll laugh with you! :P

After the introduction, it was time for business...

In action!!!

Maybe it isn't clear in the photo, but my hands were trembling. I realised it when I looked at the pen in my hand. So I quickly put the pen down.

A quick peek at the flash cards...

In a short while, we were done. I must say I am satisfied with the show we put on. The amazing part is Zhong Yang and I delivered a load of rubbish dressed in office wear and actually did not get into trouble! Hopefully the crap we came up with amused the audience. That was the whole idea anyway. We were more keen on amusing our friends than anything else.

Here I want to thank John for taking the photos and sending them to me. As you can see, he did a great job. If you want to know this handsome young man, the first step is to visit his blog. Check out the link at the 'Some Wise People I Know' place.

Okay, enough typing. Nanti tengok tu computer screen lampau lama mata pop keluar macam tu kartun punya. Alamak. Sakit......

What's Ahead

SPM results are finally a thing of the past... accounts test over... but it's not the time to sit back and relax yet. I have been busy lately, and recent events have been driving me crazy. I've had enough surprises to last the month, all packed in a week.

I get rest when I don't need it, but now when I really need it, I realise how rare it suddenly becomes.

There's a role play waiting for me on Wednesday. I'm supposed to be an interviewer. Normally I would depend on my usual load of rubbish talk to solve the problem, as it has worked for 5 years when I was in CLHS.

However, this time it's different. I'm expected to talk more sense than usual. That's tough for me. Other than that, I'm expected to wear OFFICE WEAR. Imagine that. If I do upload photos of me in office wear here, you guys are going to have a good laugh. By the way, many factors are causing me to worry about the role play. It's long. 15 minutes! 15 minutes of rubbish talk?! That can't possibly work.

The next day it's a Malaysian Studies test. What wonderful timing.

You know what, really, recent events and future events are going to make me go-

NUTS.

The Moment Of Truth Arrives...

We waited... and waited... AND waited... and when they finally announced that the results were coming, we wished we could wait longer. Funny, the way we think (or the way i think).

Our results were supposed to be thrown at us at 10 in the morning, but I was at Chung Ling at 8.30am. Had to get some certification work done. Pity Pn. Chan Lai Hin. When we get busy, she has to get busy with us. She was great help and signed all my photocopied certs although she was in a hurry to go to class. My sincere thanks to her.

In cases like collecting results, if your results don't kill you, the anticipation will. Well I survived, and when I finally found the courage to enter the hall, my results didn't kill me too. I consider myself lucky. Surprisingly, I managed to grab the elusive A1 for Chinese. EST was the killer subject and caused many 'casualties'. I got an A2 for it. Honestly, I was eyeing an A1, but you can't have everything in life. If I got A1 for EST it would have been a streak of straight A1s for me. No complains though, I'm happy with my results.

There are dozens of smarter people than me who deserve straight As, but crashed when it came to EST. They do have the stuff, but somehow they didn't make it. I really feel sorry for this group of people. They deserve better. I suppose sometimes it's our luck that does the talking... or maybe those people marking the EST paper didn't know what they were doing. What's important is not to give up my friends. YOU DESERVE BETTER AND I KNOW IT!!!

When I look back I suddenly realize how much I owe everyone who has helped me in the past. So thank you Papa, Mummy and Ming for your support. Thank you all my 老师s, teachers and cikgus. Thank you friends for being who you are. Thank you all you people who helped me with or without knowing it.

The journey has just begun, and this path I have been given the chance to tread upon, because of all of you.

Wrapping Up The Week...

Well yes, I'm only writing this because I can't think of anything else to write. Apparently I can get bloggers' block even before I start writing. That can't be too good.

You know I have finally been given the chance to drive Mummy's proton... under the scrutiny of Papa of course. Big difference when compared to the tiny kancil. My estimation was out most of the time. Went too near the parked vehicles by the roadside. Nothing happened, so don't get too happy. I'm still alive and kicking (though I don't kick much). So people if you happen to see me behind the wheel in a proton, keep your distance. Or else we may both go from behind the wheel to under the wheel or over the wheel or whatever. The question is, which wheel?

Away from wheels, college life has been getting tough. Assignment after assignment is pouring in. Most of them are easy though tedious. I am quite sure I messed up Malaysian Studies though... well it could have been worse. Meanwhile, the college folk are starting to worry about SPM results. Discussion's rife. I've been worrying about SPM way too long. So I'm trying to brainwash myself into not worrying. I'm even using my msn personal message to influence myself. Hakuna matata...

Watched Disney's The Lion King?

It means no worries... for the rest of your days... it's our PROBLEM FREEEEE... PHILOSOPHY...

HAKUNA MATATA!!!!!

Man I like that song Pumba and Timon sang with Simba.

You'll be surprised this silly but meaningful song calms me down. So I wasn't exactly wasting my time while watching cartoons when I was 6. :)

Okay enough crap. By the way my best wishes to all of you waiting for your results!

Ladies and gentlemen (more gentlemen I think), recently a tagging game surfaced among the Council of the Wise (wise people with blog links stated by the side). It is the Council's wish that those tagged shall answer a list of questions that would reveal much but not too much about themselves.

Staying Calm...Not That Easy Folks

It's still 2 weeks before the SPM results will be shoved down our throats. Most people I meet are still rather successful at keeping their cool.

Or at least they look like they're successfully keeping their cool.

I'm not so sure about me, though. Every time someone that's not further than 10 feet away from me says 'SPM', my legs seem to turn to jelly, and my stomach seems keen on giving me a look at what my lunch would appear like after socializing with some enzymes. It's not the best feeling in the world. I don't think anyone's facing the same thing here, so perhaps I'm just thinking too much.

I keep getting the feeling that I really messed up in Bio and EST. Chinese is another problem. There may be another 1001 screw-ups I can think of regarding my SPM, so I better not get too creative. My pals keep telling me I look calm... hell that's the exact opposite of how I really feel.

So if any of you reading this have the same sick feeling every time SPM is mentioned, well you're not alone. Staying calm ain't that easy, but let's j...j...j...just... s...s...s...st...stay...c...ca...calllm.
